Below is a copy of a letter circulated by PSA (Citroen & Peugeot). If they think it's not value for money at £5.70 then what does that say for the £9.50 the independant dealer is paying.

AUTO TRADER PSA 2012 ENDORSED RATE CHANGES

Auto Trader Digital (ATD) advised PSA last week that they intend to increase their 2012 endorsed rate from £4.69 to

£5.70 from February 2012. Peugeot and we agree that this latest increase is untenable; especially since it follows some

very pronounced rate increases during the last 4 years.

As a result, there will be some differences to the ATD relationship in 2012.

We’ll no longer support an ATD endorsed programme (the same applies with Peugeot).

ATD will continue to offer the revised £5.70 endorsed rate to Select dealers at least until February 2013 (as

opposed to their new standard dealer rate of £9.50 per advert).

We’ll be investing more in Google key word searches, to drive traffic to our own

National Used Vehicle Locator.

We also have plans to facelift the look and feel of this site to reflect the latest trends (as we did with the

development of the Used Finance Calculator facility in 2011 – which helped boost used car sales and profitability

at participating dealers).

It’s expected that ATD field teams will visit you in the next few weeks to discuss new contracts, as well as the reference

terms of the new rate (including the option of displaying 9 images and free featured listings for the first two months of the

new contract). We recognise the media position ATD occupies in the used market. But we recommend that Select dealers

choosing to re-sign contracts,

become even more discerning in the scale and level of adverts

- to minimise the impact of

the proposed rate increases.

Finally, in the New Year we’ll share with you the details of a

new endorsed corporate deal

with motors.com, plus a new

commercial development with pistonheads.com. These will further assist Select dealers in remaining competitively placed

to meet the challenges of 2012.

 

The MTAU is in negotiation with several advertising portals who are prepaired to support us, this means once again membership to the MTAU will be minimal or possibly free.
